Prepaid Roaming

Prepaid Roaming is the ability for a Vodacom Prepaid subscriber to automatically make and receive voice calls, send and receive SMS with his Vodacom Tanzania number while he is visiting another country. Our newest prepaid roaming country includes Australia

ACTIVATE ROAMING

Step 1
Ensure you have sufficient airtime / credit balance in your phone. There is no minimum or maximum amount required, this would depend on how much you intend to use on your phone. For example, if you only want to receive SMS, you don’t need any credit at all!

Note: While roaming, you may recharge your prepaid account via the Instant Recharge method using Vodacom Tanzania vouchers only. Should you run out of phone credit, you may also recharge your account by receiving a Phone Credit Transfer of electronic top-up (VodaJAZA).

Step 2
Call Customer Care 100 / 101 to activate the service on your number. Activation is FREE and does not expire until you call up Customer Care again to remove the service.

Step 3
Switch off your cellphone and switch it on again upon arrival in the destination country. The network will automatically connect to the roaming partner.
If the phone does not automatically select the roaming partner, you can set this manually via the Network selection option on your phone. Most standard phones have this option under Phone Setting àNetwork Selection - it will be set to ‘Automatic’ by default. You must select ‘Manual’ - it will show you a list of available networks, from which you may then select the partner network. Example: Safaricom or Mango.

SERVICES & CHARGES

* Prepaid Roaming enables voice calls within the visited country and back to Tanzania only.
* SMS can be sent to and receive from any destination / point of origin.
* Roaming calls are billed on Per Minute Billing basis only. Subscribers on Per Second Billing do not need to convert to Per Minute Billing; they will automatically be charged per minute for calls made while they are roaming.
* Roamers are billed for incoming calls received while they are roaming.
